bk battlebands 0410 ct m bk-books-2006 eg 0202 ftf science ct m.tif6.35 x 4.5Andrew Passow demonstrated "the power of the universe" in a humorous and informative program of "Andre the Science Way" Jan. 28 hosted by the Friends of the Elm Grove Library. Once through a locked door, little stops an individual from access to McKinley Elementary School's stairwells leading to all floors. McKinley, at 2435 N. 89 St., would be replaced with a new building on the school's existing property as proposed in the Wauwatosa School District's $124.9 million referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot. Built in 1929, the buildings three floors and basement are not handicap accessible, lacks adaptable space, requires replace of the building's boilers and HVAC system, and main entrance is not secure. Two elementary schools would be replaced, and two would receive major additions, reconfiguration and renovation.
