Union Pacific Railroad crew began cleanup and track repair from 13 empty bulk storage container cars that derailed, eight laying on their sides, south of Capitol Drive and west of I-41 at about 10 p.m. Aug. 20.

Robert Biebel of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) outlined the current issues with both shallow and deep-water aquifers that supply water to communities west of the subcontinental divide. Future planning includes consideration for protection of surface areas where water percolates to recharge the aquifers, and use of the aquifers with reduced impact to surface waters, like lakes, streams and marshes.
