3-Bush-2 Visitors to the public open house on the draft of the Life Sciences District Master Plan for lands remaining in the former County Ground property leave comments on an aerial photograph of the area. Arts Instructor Jenny Leigh talks about holding classes in what was the McKinley Elementary School's orginal kitchen and cafeteria in the building's basement. McKinley has no elevator to move people with mobility issues between the four floors. The basement is cramped with both ast and music classrooms, and there is a mosture problem. McKinley, at 2435 N. 89 St., would be replaced with a new building on the school's existing property as proposed in the Wauwatosa School District's $124.9 million referendum on the Nov. 6 ballot. Built in 1929, the buildings three floors and basement are not handicap accessible, lacks adaptable space, requires replace of the building's boilers and HVAC system, and main entrance is not secure. Two elementary schools would be replaced, and two would receive major additions, reconfiguration and renovation. Gabriella Wiebel of Menomonee Falls waits on Main Street with her cousins for the start of the Menomonee Falls Christmas Parade on Nov. 26.
