How much money would I have to work with if I cut cable and switched to on-demand content through the Internet?
I do not have cable. I needed a number and got the lowdown from one of our area’s two wired cable providers.
They pitch a low intro fee that’s good for a year, but no mention of upfront installation cost, the monthly equipment rental, taxes and other fees, or the cost once the promo rate expires. I asked…
$83 a month now, $123 a year from now.
If I want more sports and additional premium channels, it’s $148 a year from now.
I avoided cable because I had surfed 57 Channels (And Nothing On) while at motels, but it ain’t easy to stay in the conversation when I missed “The Sopranos,” “Game of Thrones” or “Monday Night Football,” not to mention seeing new movies once on the streaming circuit.
Will I spend $123 a month for on-demand services?
Nope – but now I know how much I can wiggle.
